I'm back, from my 10 day vacation. I took a few books with me; Never touched them. I took with me a mind thinking of time of relaxation and not being busy; the opposite happened. If you read my post called,"vacation" Then you would have read that I thought it would have been a nice relaxing time. Nope. We were busy every day, all day. We went to All four Disney parks in three days! I'm not complaining here, I'm just saying. I loved it though. We went back in 2010 and I fell in love with it. So, forward two years of me asking to go back and I did :) I went back and I enjoyed every minute of it.... Even if I was sick, in bed....
Here's some pictures:

On, my vacation, There was my uncle,my brother,my sister and my uncles friend, her son and me. There were 6 of us. And so we needed food right? well of course we did. And we had lots. Lots of food. by the end of the week in about two days we ate, 4 thick pork chops, 3 fillets of salmon, 2 fillets of tilapia and a partridge in a pear tree.... hehe.... K but the point being there was a lot of food left, and we had to finish it.
41 Then the Jews began to complain about Jesus. That was because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." 42 They said, "Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph? Don't we know his father and mother? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?"43 "Stop complaining among yourselves," Jesus answered. 44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me brings him. Then I will raise him up on the last day.45 "It is written in the Prophets, 'God will teach all of them.'—(Isaiah 54:13) Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.46 "No one has seen the Father except the One who has come from God. Only he has seen the Father. 47 What I'm about to tell you is true. Everyone who believes has life forever.48 "I am the bread of life. 49 Long ago your people ate the manna in the desert, and they still died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven. A person can eat it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Everyone who eats some of this bread will live forever. The bread is my body. I will give it for the life of the world."
This was this August 12, 2012 Gospel. I really enjoyed this gospel and the first reading and how they fit together. But you know that saying, " You must read the Old Testament to understand the New Testament and You must know the New Testament to understand the Old Testament." Well it's kinda like that.

This weeks Gospel is a continuation from John, from last week. The Bread of Life. This part of John is one of my favorite readings/sections of the bible. John paints the picture for us. So, we find here that the Jews were complaining about, what Jesus said..... Nothing new..... Not only that God gives us his son, but the Bread of life so that we might live. And we may only live if we listen and learn from the son.
A person can eat it and not die. I love that line. It's securing, to know that we may NEVER die from eating this food. That we may NEVER die, if we believe. If we believe that He is the way and if we Listen and learn from him.
4 Then he traveled for one day into the desert. He came to a small tree. He sat down under it. He prayed that he would die. "Lord, I've had enough," he said. "Take my life. I'm no better than my people of long ago." 5 Then he lay down under the tree. And he fell asleep.Suddenly an angel touched him. The angel said, "Get up and eat." 6 Elijah looked around. Near his head he saw a flat cake of bread. It had been baked over hot coals. A jar of water was also there. So Elijah ate and drank. Then he lay down again.7 The angel of the Lord came to him a second time. He touched him and said, "Get up and eat. Your journey will be long and hard."8 So he got up. He ate and drank. The food gave him new strength. He traveled for 40 days and 40 nights. He kept going until he arrived at Horeb. It was the mountain of God.
After Elijah thought he had done enough. He wanted to die. He thought his time was up. But no, God had something different in mind. And God usually does. For the better... Anyways, we have in August 12, 2012 first reading that fits perfectly with the gospel. The Angel has cooked for Elijah some
Bread. Bread that was cooked over hot coals. The angel, tells Elijah certain instructions, to get up and eat because his journey will be long and hard. That food gave him Strength. Just like the food Jesus gives us. The food Jesus is.
We are fed for our journey, we are fed for our road, we are fed by the body and blood of Christ. For our long and hard journey, we need this food to live on. We need Jesus. We need him to complete our road.
So, may our earthly food not be the food we store up, but the food we store up on his the food of Elijah, the food of Jesus. Jesus the bread of life who came down from heaven. And Cooked a loaf of bread over hot coals so that we may eat for our long journey.
